National Recovery Month

Celebrating National Recovery Month - September 2023.

Wahkiakum Human Services honors National Recovery Month sponsored by SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration), started in 1989.

This is a national observance held every September to promote that recovery is possible, to bring awareness and support evidence-based treatment and recovery practices, our nations strong and proud recovery community, and the dedication of all service providers and communities who make recovery possible.

Working definition of recovery defines “recovery as a process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live self-direction lives, and strive to reach their full potential”.
