
What is LIHEAP?
LIHEAP stands for Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (EAP/Energy Assistance), a federally funded grant that provides money to help low income households make home heating more affordable during the winter months. It also helps to avoid shutoff of utility services.
How much money can a household make and still be eligible?
Maximum monthly household income must be at or below the 150% federal poverty level guidelines. The net guidelines are listed below: (Additional income allowed for larger families)

Three people | $3108.00 monthly |
Four people | $3750.00 monthly |

How do I sign up for this program?
- Phone Intake Interviews (there are no "Appointments") are scheduled on a first come first served basis. The available openings on this website are for LIHEAP (Energy Assistance) ONLY. The web site is: www.lowercolumbiacap.org
- To schedule a Phone Intake Interview, you will need to fill in the following: total number of people in the household, last 4 numbers of your Social Security number, your name, birthdate, address, phone number and check the boxes for all income types in your household.
- You will be prompted to select a time and date for your Phone Intake Interview for your application.
PLEASE NOTE:The time and date you select is only a placeholder for your LIHEAP (Energy Assistance) Intake Interview.You will be contacted by phone on or before (up to 5 business days prior) your scheduled Intake Interview date and your application will be completed by mail as there are no in-person options and the LIHEAP Department is closed to the public. - ****YOUR PHONE INTAKE INTERVIEW IS NOT COMPLETELY SCHEDULED UNTIL YOU REACH THE CONFIRMATION PAGE ****
- If they are unable to reach you by phone for your Intake Interview, a packet of information will be mailed to you containing instructions on how to proceed.
