In 2024, as part of a preventative medicine rollout, Wahkiakum County Health & Human Services secured a “Test and Go” healthcare kiosk from Washington State Department of Health. This no-cost, self-service kiosk was installed for use by the community and offered a local solution to some urgent healthcare needs, while offering the privacy of an ATM.
Washington State DOH sunsetted the "Test and Go" healthcare kiosk program in 2025 and the machine was turned off and went back to DOH. Seeing the popular use of the machine, and encouraged by positive public comment, WCHHS used restricted funds to purchase two new machines for each end of Wahkiakum County.
In early 2026, WCHHS received the new machines, placing one under the porch of the Cathlamet Public Library and the other outside the food pantry entrance of Johnson Park. The machines were welcomed by the community and serve as a free and convenient access point for preventative healthcare and harm reduction.
